Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English Literature. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter within Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Then she became a reporter with the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed situated in Washington DC. She became a Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. The year 1981 saw her begin covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was named the Chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief International Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the show. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debate in 1988 in the 1988 debate between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was the previous chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her work in the defense for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered for the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories such as arms control, budget tax reforms and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev.
